KBC Bank Bulgaria and UBB united under the name United Bulgarian Bank (UBB)

On 10th of April 2023, UBB and KBC Bank Bulgaria officially united after the re-organization of KBC Bank Bulgaria EAD, through its merger into United Bulgarian Bank AD, was entered in the Commercial Register. The legal merger is the next step in the integration of the two banks after the Belgian KBC Group acquired the business of Raiffeisen Bank International in Bulgaria in the summer of 2022.

The process of the technical integration of UBB and present KBC Bank Bulgaria is underway. Until its finalization, our branch network, corporate website and the digital channels of the up-to-now KBC Bank Bulgaria will have a special symbol next to UBB logo. At this stage, clients do not need to take any actions and will continue to be serviced as until now. We will inform you about any future changes.

    To perform active banking operations through KBC Online Bulgaria, you need to use one of the following security tools:

    Software token authorization

    The software token is a compact, convenient and user-friendly mobile application that generates one-off valid codes for verification of your transactions and forms.

    The KBC Token software token can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS.

    What is a software token

    The Software Token is a specialized mobile application that enables easy and convenient authorization of bank transactions and requests on the Internet and mobile banking of KBC Online Bulgaria.

    What does a token provide

    • Additional security when making bank transfers or other online transactions
    • Convenience and ease of use
    • Mobility - at any time from anywhere in the world

    How to get your token

    The KBC Token software token can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS.

    What is the price for a token

    The KBC Token mobile application is completely free of charge.

    SMS authorization

    Upon confirmation of payments and forms in KBC Mobile Bulgaria and KBC Online Bulgaria system, you will receive an SMS message with a one-off verification code to a mobile telephone number stated beforehand on the registration form.

    The SMS message also contains payment information - the amount and the last digits of the recipient’s account or the type of order.

    The registration for the service and receipt of SMS messages are completely free**.

    ** Additional fees may be charged by the mobile operator when an SMS is received in roaming mode.

    What is an "SMS authorization code"

    The SMS authorization code is an additional tool to protect online payments. It is issued by KBC Bank Bulgaria and serves as a one-off temporary code sent via SMS to a mobile phone.

    How are payments made

    Upon confirmation of payments in KBC Mobile Bulgaria and KBC Online Bulgaria system, you will receive an SMS message with a one-off verification code of the selected transfer/group of transfers to a mobile telephone number stated beforehand on the registration form. The SMS message contains also payment information - the amount and the last digits of the recipient’s account. You need to enter the transaction verification code in the system. For additional security, it is recommended to check the payment details from the SMS message with the details of the transaction entered in the computer. You can confirm a group of payments with one SMS code.

    Who is the service intended for

    The "SMS authorization code" is a service available to all current and future users of KBC Mobile Bulgaria and KBC Online Bulgaria who use online banking for active transactions and have a valid mobile number.

    What is the service charge

    The registration for the service and receipt of SMS messages are completely free. Together with the guaranteed security of payments, the client also saves bank transaction costs as KBC Mobile Bulgaria and KBC Online Bulgaria transfer fees are significantly lower than the fees for payments made at a bank office.

    How to register for the service

    All UBB clients can register for this service by visiting one of UBB’s offices and declaring their willingness to actively use online banking with SMS authorization code.
